I am a Vessel of Change

A poem of self-discovery

In the mirror's gaze, I stand, a vessel true,

Not a gem to adorn, but a soul to renew.

I am not meant to follow one set decree,

For my path is my own, and my heart is too free.

I am a vessel of change, this truth I embrace,

A canvas of life, where my dreams find their place.

A spirit within me, forever in flight,

Growing, evolving, in the day and the night.

I won't be confined to another's design,

For my purpose in life is solely mine.

I'll tread uncharted paths, discover my song,

In the symphony of life, where I truly belong.

I am not here to change the world entire,

But within my own soul, I'll light the fire.

To shape my own destiny, I shall endeavor,

With the strength of my spirit, I'll cherish forever.

So remember, I am not a gem on display,

But a human being, finding my way.

A vessel of change, on this journey I'll steer,

To live life authentically, without fear.

Alice, this is beautiful and so well expressed. I can relate to every word, every line. Incredible. Bravo 💕🙂

Interesting lines. The personification in the opening line, "the mirror's gaze", is stirring a metaphor. And change itself seems referred to as a source of truth, a guide for the speaker here. What the truth is could be so many things; the interpretations are endless depending on the reader. Personally, "I am not a gem on display" felt nostalgic. I have an old poem that speaks on the untouched aesthetic of letting gems be as they are. Thanks for that. Ciao. :)
