If a picture is worth a thousand words

What do a thousand blue butterflies weigh

Before one of them notices the birds

Signalling the others, ’tis time to sway

Between life and death, daylight and tonight

When the sheets could be filled with affection

Surrounded by blue pillows and love’s might

Looking for an effective reflection.

One bedside light stays on without the Moon

Letting our eyes grasp whether love endured

From decade to decade however strewn

Whether time was kidnapped or quickly lured.

One free butterfly took the lead to love

The white around its blue, aping a dove.

-----

A thousand blue butterflies over a rainbow in my mind

Resting before renewed love sends them towards the one who pined.
