Known as the original beach resort of Thailand due to being patronized by the Thai Royalty in the past It is currently quite popular due to its beautiful beaches as well as the vibrant cityscapes with bustling markets, golf courses etc. The aura of bonhomie that prevails in Hua Hin appeals to many visitors. Introduction

The distance of 200 km between Bangkok and Hua Hin can be covered in approximately 3 hours by road. However, this can vary according to the traffic conditions and the vehicle used, sometimes taking close to 4 hours. For the convenience of visitors, there are different modes of travel offered such as bus, train, van, or taxi to suit different budgets and different categories of visitors such as whether a time-constrained visitor or travelling solo, as a group, as a family a couple etc. to select from.

Travelling by bus

This is a comfortable way to travel from Bangkok to Hua Hin as these services are operated by limousine buses and smaller vans with wide seats, especially on the buses. Nearly 30 departures are happening during the day giving a lot of flexibility to visitors such as those booked at hotels in Hua Hin.

Travelling by bus or van does not make a lot of difference in terms of travel time and comfort unless you suffer from motion sickness, in which case using the bus is better. Make sure that you select the ideal departure time for your travel to Hua Hin.

It is also good to be aware of the pricing for bus seats as it can vary based on departure time, whether you opt for bus or van, and the preferred seating. Seating in the first two rows of the bus comes at an additional cost. Although you pay extra for preferred seating the ride is worth the money you pay as it ranges between 6 to 11 USD from Bangkok to Hua Hin. The tickets can be purchased from bus stations in advance or online from 12Go. Booking or getting tickets early is better as mostly done by guests using properties like Avani + Hua Hin Resort.

Be sure to check the closest bus station for you to join the bus or van and the disembarking point closest to your hotel.

Travelling by Train

This is another option for visitors to get to Hua Hin from Bangkok. The trains are comfortable, and the ride is enjoyable, however, it is slower taking approximately 4.5 to 5 hours to arrive in Hua Hin.

The prices vary according to the type of travel chosen; a first-class sleeper seat is about 8 USD whereas a second-class seat is about 4 USD. The sleeper seats are good if travelling overnight to Hua Hin. The prices are close to the rates for Bus Services, however, travel by bus is faster.

Tickets can be booked in advance from the railway station or online from 12Go. All trains to Hua Hin depart from Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal Station and arrive at Hua Hin Railway Station which is about 1 km from the beach area.

Using a Private Transfer

This is considerably more expensive than using the previous 02 modes of travel. But is a preferred choice for some visitors as it is fast, comfortable and permits convenience and flexibility.

You are picked up from your hotel in Bangkok and dropped at your hotel in Hua Hin, stops on the way can be made which would not be possible when using a bus/van or rail. This is a preferred mode for families with children, visitors on short visits and those having mobility issues.
