We are made of stardust.

The primordial forces that hold the universe together bind our component pieces one to another,

Electrons to positrons,

Atoms to atoms,

Mitochondria and nucleus to cytoplasm.

The impulses and signals that cause our hearts to beat and our synapses to fire

Also light the skies above us,

A million fires dancing in choreographed synchronicity.

The space we occupy extends through us and beyond us into infinity,

Every molecule exuding delight and sorrow, hope and regret,

Endless beginnings and endings.

For energy cannot be destroyed,

Only changed,

Never forgotten,

Only repurposed,

Every step we take an echo of the first bright, beautiful eruption that created everything that is, that was, that ever will be,

Starlight without end.

I loved this. One of my favorite poems is Kin by Carl Sanburg; this is similarly evocative of the haunting/comforting premise that we're all connected in the timeless soul-soup of the collective unconscious (aka spiritus mundi ). Was that terribly pretentious? I suppose that largely depends upon whether I got your intended meaning, or missed it entirely...🤔😘

Lovely and ethereal! Love it! Congratulations on Top Story, and very likely on the challenge. I missed the part where it's still supposed to be light and airy just not sunshine. Definitely nailed the not sunshine part, but nothing as lush and inspired and wonderland-y as this. (Yep, I made that word up and I'm sticking to it.) Again, wonderful piece and so perfect for life generally!

Wonderful crossover between science and art

I so LOVED this!!! I found "faith" in the "scientific" principle that matter cannot die, it only changes form. I cringe when I hear others speak that science and God do not coincide...
