Things You Cannot See

she has a strength you cannot see

it formed within her heart

it was built from tragedy

from beauty and from art

she wove a net to contain it

out of cobwebs from the past

from this silk of spiders

it was strong enough to last

she bolstered it with broken dreams

and with hope that never died

and tears of pain

that fell like rain

she collected when she cried

she keeps her strength tucked away

to share with a grieving friend

or just to cope

or to beat the slope

of the mountain she ascends

sad poetry
