The way it ends

Poem

I dub you an umbrella knight!

So now you go, you go and fight

The rain, the wind,

The stormy night.

You are a shield,

So show the world

What you’re made from,

I know you’ll mold

To be a hero; and on your tomb

The crown of thorns will sprout,

And bloom, my dear.

You should be strong, you must be stout.

Yes, you will die,

But it’s the path

For strong and brave –

Now, don’t you cry,

Embrace your wrath,

And fight yourself into a grave!

The hailstorm hits,

It leaves the pits

In mellow earth;

But you are fighting for the cause,

Of course, you fight to win –

But suddenly at someone’s whim

The breach in your umbrella grows,

And you get wet,

You knit your brows,

You swell, you melt

My sugar boy.

This is the end,

My dear sweetheart.

You were a toy in Nature’s hands,

It’s sad and mad; hard

To accept –

– the way it ends.
