The Uncertainty Of Life
The struggle within
He often stumbles along life’s pathway in utter confusion,
Making fantastical decisions out of the blue,
Dedicated to making his dreams come true,
But scattered from the doubts because he has just a few.
**
His chest feels hollow, although filled with constant dread,
And he consistently questions if he’s doing the right thing,
Is it too late to turn back the clock?
Or is it that the fat lady is yet to sing?
**
He’s in with every muscle at this late stage,
And has no choice but to move forward along this path chosen,
Fear a living, breathing entity within his sight,
At times leaving his mind blank and completely frozen.
**
But he tackles the fight into untended submission,
Taking each day as they come, one at a time,
Slowly stepping forth to battle the doubts,
Leaving it to the universe to generously align.
**
The obstacles stack up, queuing for attention,
His stress levels peak by the end of each day,
Exhaustion sets in, paving the way for his anxious doubts,
Ensuring his strength and stubbornness is made to pay.
**
The night time hours sees him toss and turn, fretting once more,
His dreams are made up of tragedies that he constantly fears,
He is often ripped from his nightmares to awaken to darkness,
Lying silently feeling the wash of his tears.
**
Tormented but determined, the lightening of the day eases his pressures,
He’ll tackle a few more obstacles that are in his way,
Understanding his strength grows along with his resilience,
And he’s only got to worry about the hours in this day.
**
He stands strong and battles his internal fortitude in silence,
Never giving voice to the doubts or the constant pain,
He feels he is failing in this story we call life,
But he will soon realise his constant struggles were never in vain.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

"Tormented but determined" - a feeling I can resonate with. Wonderful writing.
I keep failing too and it sure does feel like everything is in vain for me. Like I wish I can just give up
Loved the last line!!!
