Creaking floors, squeaking doors,
shadows drift around.
You’re all alone, so what’s that noise?
You don’t recognise that sound.
#
Your mind is playing tricks on you,
imagination going wild.
When suddenly, you hear a voice,
it’s sounds just like a child.
#
You shiver as an icy chill,
sweeps across the room.
What was that outside the window?
Was that a witch sat on a broom?
#
The front door locked, yet you seem to hear,
footsteps climb the stairs.
Eyes prised wide, staring at the door,
convinced there’s someone there.
#
A figure in a hooded cloak,
appears right by your bed.
Gripped with fear, it’s too late now,
to hide from the living dead.
#
Terrified and body shaking,
you open your mouth to scream.
Until suddenly, it dawns on you -
Tonight it’s Halloween!

Great job!
Rhythmic and melodic!
The ending of the poem is both satisfying and humorous. The speaker is safe, but they've definitely had a good scare. a very well-written poem. It's spooky, suspenseful, and humorous all at the same time. I really enjoyed reading it.🤣😨🥵👌👍
Excellently spooky stanzas
I hear Vincent Price as I read this...😉
