My Little Gemini

A Gemini named Leo is he.

An amalgamation of joyful things.

Does he have two sides?

Yes, extreme he can be.

But both sides are incredible to me.

I hear a laugh

A squeal of glee

A mother's instinct

Resides in me

"What did he find?"

"What could it be?"

He runs so fast, much faster than me

A toddler and a speed fiend climbs a tree

"Oh, Leo you know I can't get you way up there!"

He laughs at me; he doesn't care.

Mom is the one who thinks it's dangerous.

To him, my concerns are miscellaneous.

He like to challenge my authority

He likes to test me, but that's okay.

He gives me this bizarre expression

As if I've left a bad impression

It is quite the incredulous look on his face

A look that tells me somehow

I'm out of place

For telling him "no" or "not today"

He likes to think things should go his way

His intelligence amazes me

His eyes spark with curiosity

Leo is warm and generous

This little fellow that is also rambunctious

He likes to snuggle, then to pounce

Sometimes my energy is drained

All but an ounce

He is worth it; that Gemini fellow

The Gemini that is never mellow

He's always full throttle

Never in between

He's either happy and laughing

Or kicking and screaming

At times his tantrums reign victorious

Other times, he'll get mad and ignore us

He has a personality all his own

A bright, vibrant future for him will be shown

He loves to play well with others

Impressive since he has no brothers

No sisters either as a matter of fact

Leo is currently the main act.

Mommy and Daddy

Remi and Gus

Those are his parents and their pups

But our little boy has to be different.

"A kitten", he said, ever vigilant.

Don't get us wrong, he loves the pups too.

The pups, cat, and him all make a fine crew.

He stumbles on board to his pirate adventure

Yes, pirates are the main thing he is into.

Pirates and cats

English and Spanish

"Wallykazam" with Victor that vanishes

Santiago and Diego;

He enjoys those too.

Then, he insists on watching "Blues Clues And You."

Those are for rainy days

He prefers to be outside

On an adventure

Finding new places to hide.

Swinging with Mom

Or sliding with Dad

He wants to tell you about the fun he has had.

He's often quite chatty,

That boy of mine.

He wants to be with us all of the time.

This makes us happy;

We enjoy his presence

Sometimes we must gather up strength within us

We need a minute or two

Just a few to breathe

Before he pulls more tricks out of his sleeve

By Fengyou Wan on Unsplash

Magic and mayhem

His engineering is "A+"

He took the wheels off his bike

That impressed us.

He placed them back on with grace and with care.

Those training wheels he knew were supposed to go there.

By Danny Nee on Unsplash

He's always building and fixing stuff

Taking Daddy's sockets, wrenches, and such.

He has his own versions

But those aren't quite as nice

He wants to know how things work

That is his big vice

His vice or his passion, as far as we're concerned.

These are great skills we're happy he's learned.

What did we do to deserve this son of mine?

His love and his kindness,

His unique design?

We did nothing to earn his personality

His interests, his visions, his activity

His intrinsic nature

The joy he holds

Did the stars align?

Did a horoscope unfold?

Did his time of birth

Impact his state?

Does his zodiac sign help make him great?

Is his constellation important to us?

He's the star of our eyes,

our major point of focus

Gemini may be his constellation

And for our little family

He's quite the sensation.
