Lord, I was thinking

We are so imperfect

people are so different

i see so many faces

so much joy

so much sadness.

i realise that

only children remain true to themselves

unburdened by the world's expectations.

everyone wants to have a new face

and give up the one you gave them.

they seek validation and approval

masking their true selves

they want to be in control of what surrounds them

but they forget you are part of that surrounding.

in their pursue of control

they lose sight of your presence.

i notice that

people with fewer things in life are happier

because they live up to what they have

finding joy in simplicity

and contentment in small blessings

they cherish the present moment

grateful for each day.

but people with much more seem to be depressed

burdened by their possessions

always seeking the next thing

never satisfied.

their abundance becomes a prison

their desires are never-ending.

do they seek perfection?

I also seek perfection

while I know I will never find it

is there an ideal I can aim for ?
