In every breath, you're here
A poem of remembrance and reflection
In the quiet of the evening,
I see you there, in the shadows.
So, can you tell the difference,
between Heaven and Hell,
blue skies and pain,
A smile and a veil?
Did they make you trade
heroes for ghosts,
ashes for trees,
comfort for change,
A small part in the war
for a big role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here,
two lost souls in a fish bowl,
year after year,
running over the same ground.
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here, in the twilight,
guiding me through the night.
Your laughter echoes, your wisdom near,
You visit me in dreams, so clear.
In every breath, I feel your love,
In every moment, I wish you were here.
