In a free fall, you don't want to reach the surface;
Your spine's too fragile to take the hit.
But maybe all this is not real; it must be a dream.
Try and give it a spin; feel a piercing thrill.
Bend and twist your body to your feverish will.
And blindly believe your fall serves a purpose.
***
Two steps up, three steps down.
A somber descent into nothingness.
Too sober to dream, you repent. See for yourself:
There's light, and there's dark. A reason
To die and a reason to live. A prison
For all of us. Embrace it, accept it. Drown
***
Your sorrows in hopes for tomorrow's
Salvation. A new day—a new life.
Sleep through this deep dive. Be free
In the free fall. With no destination,
No obligations. Surreal bifurcation
Of body and mind.
Somebody, please, help—
stay by my side.

This was great. Inspired my latest poetry piece, too!
I hear the speaker telling himself these words, but those last two lines seem like the honesty he's been rationalizing beforehand. Not that it makes the poem as a whole anything lesser, but actually the opposite; that talking ourselves into hope is so hard to do. It does require help, someone to never leave, to keep reminding us to make that choice. Free fall, but just don't land. Awesome poem.
Very surreal, and hitting the water is rough.. the free fall of the mind is a lot more fun, I think, if only it could stay like that longer. Nice work Andrei!
Oooo, bifurcation. I learned a new word today! I loved your poem so much!
So well written. I especially adored the ending
The freefall of the psyche preceding that of both body & soul. Is there anyone who can &/or will reach through the fog of our darkness to join us & walk by our side?
Joy and despair sit so close, there's a maniacal desperation here.
Nice
