In November it’s three years

Since I met my fate,

It was Melbourne Cup day

The third the date.

***

I had a car accident

Which caused a lot of pain,

It’s my neck and back

That puts me in hospital again.

***

A minor operation here

A minor operation there,

What do I do to deserve it

It’s really not fair.

***

But now the times come

And the operation is major,

What are my chances

I’ll not place a wager.

***

I’m really worried

And ever so scared,

I’ll need a lot of help

From people who care.

***

I can’t go through with it

Not on my own,

Please somebody help me

I can’t go it alone.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
