Golden Silence

A poem about deafness

In silence,

a deaf person cries,

echoes play,

in a world of quietude,

and shades of gray,

ripples the day.

Sounds now,

a distant dream,

yet in the hush,

there's a hopeful gleam.

Melodic whispers gone,

thunderous applause silent,

deafness cloaked

like a silent movie,

instead, life's now,

a subtle pause.

A dance of hands,

an eloquent ballet,

conveying tales untold

in an array of painful silence

life becomes a spiritual band,

amongst a symphony

of vibrations.

..........

In silence,

vibrates an inner soul,

a tapestry of moods

unfolding toward

a peaceful world.

The rustle of leaves,

the gentle rain patters,

felt in fingers,

a language that matters.

Through hands that sign,

a lexicon profound,

silent words emerge,

a language unbound.

A silent world,

yet vibrant and alive,

our stories woven,

where spirits thrive

through nature

moving fingers dive.

In fields of gestures,

a ballet of hands,

expression dances

across silent lands.

The beauty of silence,

a canvas to paint,

a masterpiece in resilience,

no need to acquaint.

Eyes that sparkle,

conveying a tale,

in the language

of emotions set sail.

................................

Quiet strength

in faces of a storm,

deafness embraced,

a unique art form.

In quietness,

a serenade of heart,

a masterpiece

composed,

a work of art.

Our world, soundless,

but voices found,

in symphonies of

golden silence,

deafness overwhelms,

quietness drowns

in a life of

spiritual sound.

NOTE

I wrote about deafness because I have been deaf in my left ear since I was seven years old. I have lived with it for a long time but I class myself as lucky because I still have the hearing in my right ear. Therefore, my hearing is normal except for not having the use of my left one. So, this poem is for those who have suffered with their deafness but if you listen to the silence another world can be heard.

Your poem was so profound, poignant and emotional! If you don't mind me asking, what caused the hearing loss in your left ear? Loved your poem!
