Feeding People is Noble Work
Villanelle to a hungry world
Feeding people is noble work.
Ask anyone who craves a meal:
a hungry world awaits a cook.
*
Farmer and supermarket clerk,
their fresh crops and produce reveal
how feeding you is heavy work.
*
Nervous novice prefers cookbook,
beginning recipe ordeal.
A hungry crowd awaits a cook.
*
Armed with apron, enters calm cook.
It matters lots if skill is real.
Feeding people is detailed work.
*
Clean counters now with crumbs betook,
and piles of onions, peas and peel.
A hungry crowd awaits the cook.
*
To all, I dedicate this work.
No medicine can better heal
than people well-fed, noble work.
A hungry world awaits a cook.

Nice and so true!! ❤️ I pretty much stopped cooking when I married the charm. He doesn't like pasta, rice, or veggies! We would be in trouble if we were starving. Maybe just he would be as I know how to be a poor cook🤣
A poignant piece! Hopefully the cook would be keto : )
Beautiful!
A Wonderful piece! I love the message!
This is great. Well Done.
So inspirational and deserves a shout out to all the volunteers out there helping others. Well said, PK.
Ahhh. I love this... and I love food!!!
Beautiful and so true.
So true. In a busy life cooking can become a chore, but it's always worth it sitting around a table enjoying a meal with good friends and family
Impressive and inspirational!!! Love this!!!
Totally agree that food is the best medication when taken in moderation. Loved your poem!
Ah, my mouth is watering. One gets tired of being the cook. I am ready to be cooked to and for. Cute is the villanelle.
