As light Surrenders

… and shapes diminish.

Where once the natural gifts of beauty spread

their wings across terrains of light below,

now there is but darkness, no light is shed

to give these undulating fields their glow.

.

Gone are the glimmerings of radiant light

that once bounced about with luminous lust.

Gone are the sprinklings, all brilliant and bright,

no longer dancing, as once they felt they must.

.

As the sun sets to give this day its end

my seductive palette of colours fade

to nothing more than a charcoaled blend

of reductive mauves in a soup of shade.

.

As light surrenders and shapes diminish

the hue of dusk gives my day its finish.

.

About the Creator

Tim Grace

A first impression has a lasting effect - it makes a notable difference. In a subtle way that’s who I am as a poet. A ‘first impression’ looking for the gentle ‘twist’ that draws attention to a novel observation.
