ORLANDO, Fla. – The Under Armour Next Camp Series kicked off Sunday with its first of two stops in the Sunshine State. In year’s past the Orlando camp has served as a showcase for some of the area’s top rising seniors. This year was no different even though there were a handful of notable no-shows on Super Bowl Sunday. Below, we have some top performers and more evaluation notes below after taking in all of the action.

ALPHA DOG: VERNELL BROWN III, ATH

Few defensive backs could hang with Brown on Sunday as he won rep after rep during 1-on-1s. A three-phase playmaker under the lights, some schools are recruiting Brown to play offense at the next level. Others like him on defense. We like the idea of letting him roam free as a play-making safety or deploying him as a sticky inside corner, but after watching him dominate yet another off-season event at wide receiver, we’re ready to project him as a dynamic slot that can create chunk-plays. Brown accelerates with ease and is able to break off defenders with impressive agility. He’s coming off an 11th-grade campaign at Orlando Jones in which he caught 70 passes for 1,363 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also scored four times via the return game, oftentimes making people miss in space much like his father, Vernell Brown, did during his playing days at Florida. The younger Brown is planning to check out the Gators in the coming months and also tour Miami, FSU and Ohio State.

NEXT FIVE OFFENSE

–ZIYARE ADDISON, OL: It was a deeper than usual group of offensive linemen and we thought Addison had the best day of the bunch. The Riverview (Fla.) Sumner product took reps at both tackle and guard. His best stuff came on the inside as he used a powerful upper half to latch onto pass rushers and stop them in their tracks. What also stood out about Addison was how he moved laterally compared to the others. Addison is scheduled to take an official visit to Clemson the weekend of May 31. Oregon, Florida, Florida State and Penn State are also involved.

–BROCK HARRIS, TE, CLASS OF 2026:Harris made the trek all the way from Utah to compete. He has added some nice bulk since he first emerged on the recruiting scene at the FBU Freshman All-American Game two years ago and proved to be a straight up mismatch for defensive backs. He ran well when asked to get vertical and came down with multiple contested catches. Harris caught 55 passes for 665 yards and eight scores as a sophomore at Saint George Pine View. He now reports two dozen scholarship offers. That includes one from Georgia.

–TRAMELL JONES JR., QB, FSU COMMIT:Jones was voted MVP of the quarterbacks by the coaches working the camp. He was consistent from start to finish and flashed plenty of velocity during accuracy drills for the signal callers. Jones also did a nice job of throwing his targets open during 1-on-1s and was able to connect on a few back-shoulder tosses. After posting a 5-5 record as a sophomore, Jones led Jacksonville Mandarin to Florida’s 4M title game as a junior, completing roughly 60% of his passes for 3,195 yards with 33 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.

–TAEVION SWINT, RB, UCF COMMIT:Swint missed a good chunk of his junior season due to injury, but is finally healthy. It showed Sunday as he gave linebackers fits during 1-on-1s. Swint isn’t the biggest target, but he can blaze past his assignments on wheel routes and he tracks the football extremely well. That led to a series of long touchdowns. Swint has the skill set to thrive in a Gus Malzhan spread attack that wants to get its running backs involved in the passing game. He has run for 2,880 yards and 38 touchdowns in three years at Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola.
