What is a Mommy Makeover?

Having a baby really changes your body.

Even though it is amazing what the body can do, the truth is that most mothers don't feel as good about themselves after they went through a pregnancy (or two). This is especially true if you struggle to lose the baby weight that you gained.

It also doesn't help that many celebrities step out weeks after having a baby looking like they nothing ever happened. Most moms feel like they have to look and feel fabulous right away, simply because celebrities do.

Because of this, many moms turn to plastic surgery. These procedures are often called mommy makeovers and are a combination of multiple surgeries done to make you feel more like yourself. Depending on your needs, you may be able to get them all done in one or two sessions.

So, what all is involved with this procedure?

Tummy Tuck. A tummy tuck is the most commonly done procedure for new moms. Even if you lose all of your baby weight, you may still have a pouch that you can't get rid of. No matter how good you eat and how many sit-ups you do, you can't seem to get the taut stomach that you are used to.

Breast enhancement. Whether you breastfed or not, pregnancy takes a toll on your breasts. They enlarge and fill with milk, causing them to droop more than normal. If you did breastfeed your children, they could be even droopier.

Breast augmentations and lifts are the most common procedures. You may want a change in the size of your breasts, whether you want to tone them down or make them a little bigger once you are done having children. You may also need a lift to give them the extra support that they need.

Some women's breasts change shape and size during pregnancy and breastfeeding, making their breasts very unsymmetrical. A mommy makeover will help their breasts look the same on both sides!

Fat removal using liposuction. Liposuction is great for moms who are struggling to lose their last few pounds. Liposuction done in a mommy makeover is typically done to the midsection, though you can also have liposuction done on your buttocks, thighs, and arms.

Vaginal rejuvenation. Vaginal births are incredibly difficult on women, especially if they tear or endure an episiotomy. Even if you had a relatively easy birth, your vagina is going to be looser than before, which is not as satisfying for you or your partner.

A vaginal rejuvenation gives you back a tight vagina so that you and your partner can have a better sex life.

Skin treatments. Many moms are very concerned about the way that their skin looks after having a baby. No matter how many creams and lotions you may use, you may still struggle with stretch marks and cellulite.

Mommy makeovers are done to make mothers feel better about their bodies after having children. The goal is to give them a toned stomach and supported breasts that they can be proud of. They may also need breast augmentation so that they can have the breasts that they have always dreamed of. They may even need augmentation to make their breasts symmetrical again.

Liposuction is also popular because many moms struggle to lose the last few pounds that they gained after having a baby. Some also want a vaginal rejuvenation so that their vagina is as tight as it used to be. You may also want to look into skin treatments to help you get rid of your stretch marks and cellulite. No matter what you want, a mommy makeover can give you your body back!
