As you get older, your room starts to look messier. Many of us hoard so much junk that throwing any of it out is like throwing out a piece of our heart. From the clothes that we don't wear anymore to the stupid scrap we collected through the years that we should definitely toss out but we don't, this can cause our rooms to look very cluttered. Especially since we own so much, we're running out of room to store them all. So, what's our last resort? Just shove the garbage under our beds, stuff them in drawers, and leave the majority of them in the corners of our room so they're out of the way, but still there.

This certainly isn't the way to properly clean your room. Even if you managed to get the junk out of your way, your room still looks messy AF. Remember that chair you bought a while ago for the corner of your room? Where is it now? Oh, it's under all the clothes you "forgot" to toss into the laundry weeks ago. And nothing looks like an aftermath of an explosion once we finish getting ready to go out and makeup products and tissues are all over your vanity, pieces of clothing you thought of wearing but don't match are on your bed and floor, and all of your drawers are opened and messed with because you couldn't find that one pair of pants. It looks like it's time to wipe out your room and make it spotless with these great tips to keep your bedroom clean and organize your space! Trust me, walking into a clean bedroom and knowing where everything is is the best feeling ever.

Storage containers are your best friends when it comes to tips to keep your bedroom clean. Your getting more storage for your belongings rather than stuffing them in drawers or in the corner of your room. Storage containers can be placed anywhere in your room from under your bed to in the closet and above the dresser, filling storage containers is way better than seeing a mess of your belongings laying around the place.

An awesome form of storage is this storage cabinet by Furinno. You can easily place this in the corner of your room, right by the dresser, or even right next to your nightstand. It's ideal for organizing your books, hygiene products, and even extra clothes that don't fit in your drawers. Simply organize your things and always know where they are with this nifty four drawer and two shelf storage cabinet.

Start making your bed.

I know so many people who are too lazy to make their beds in the morning before heading to work or school. As for one of the best tips to keep your bedroom clean, you should really start tidying your bed. Making your bed will definitely make your room look a lot cleaner, because your sheets aren't hanging off of the bed and the pillows are aligned.

Making your bed right after getting out of bed is the best time to do it. Since you just woke up, might as well straighten out your bed. This means flatten out and fold the sheets, position the pillows, and smooth everything out!

Tops of all drawers, nightstands, and dressers should be clutter-free.

I'm sure most of us have a habit of leaving our stuff on top of drawers, nightstands, and dressers. This habit can definitely increase and we'll get used to placing everything on top of our storage. Try to avoid this if possible to keep all surfaces clean!

If you're constantly cluttering junk on top of storage surfaces, it's possible to keep piling and piling without wiping it down clean. Instead, try putting away your things in drawers or in the dresser. Try to have a place for everything you bring into your room, this way, nothing will pile up and possibly get lost.

Among the best tips to keep your bedroom clean, it's probably the best idea to keep all of your smaller items in jars and boxes. Since you can easily lose smaller belongings in your room, properly put them away in smaller storages and place these storages on a table or drawer surfaces.

If you have a ton of makeup products and brushes, perfume bottles, small tech devices, jewelry, and other smaller items, it's better if you put them away in mason jars or much tinier storage boxes. Not only will you know where everything is through this method, but nothing will get in the way of anything else in your room. And an awesome tiny storage drawer is this Wooden Storage Desk Tidy by Paperchase. Ideal for putting away jewelry pieces, makeup products, small notebooks and writing utensils, and much more. This is also one of the best gifts for anyone who loves organizing.

Keep all belongings off of the floor.

It's super important to keep literally all things off of the floor. Your clothes, school/work material, snack wrappings, water bottles, bags, and anything else should not be laying around on the floor. Aside from tripping on something that you placed on the floor, your room can instantly look like a mess if your belongings are laying around the room.

Everything in your room should have somewhere to store them. Instead of the floor, your dirty pieces of clothing should go straight into the hamper, food wrappings should go into the garbage, bags go in the closet, and your school/work material should be in drawers or in any other storage. Your bedroom floor should always provide clear walking space. And it just looks better overall when nothing is on the floor.

Don't store your shoes in your bedroom.

Storing your shoes somewhere else but your room is one of the tips to keep your bedroom clean. You're walking around outside in the rain or sun, dirt sticking to your shoes, picking up diseases... do you really want them to be in a room where you sleep in? Putting away dirty shoes in the corner of your room or in the closet can have the same affect, the soles will dirty anything it touches.

Your carpet can have traces of dirt from your shoes, your drawers will collect fallen debris from your sneakers, and anything your shoes touches turns to filth. Instead, store all of your shoes in a totally different room. Put them in a closet in the hallway, the jacket closet in the foyer, or even in the garage. In order to keep your room looking spotless, I highly suggest leaving your shoes out of the room if possible.

It's okay to store things under your bed.

Yes, it's fine to store things under your bed, but there's a limit to this. Don't continuously stuff and stuff your belongings under the bed, don't kick trash under there, and never leave your dirty clothes under your bed, either. You can definitely store your things in storage containers and slip those under your bed.

If you're shoving more things under your bed, that's not cleaning up, that's making your room messier. Even though you can't see the mess, it's all under your bed where you can lose anything that you stored there. If you do want to put away things under your bed, limit the items or use storage containers to store more than five things under your bed.

Fold and put away your clean clothes.

Your clean clothing should always be neatly folded and put away in drawers or the closet. From the best tips to keep your bedroom clean, it's important to properly put away clean clothes to avoid wrinkles and consuming less space. If you're shoving clothing in your drawers, not only will this easily wrinkle pieces of your clothing, but it will limit the amount of storage room you have in that one drawer.

Especially after ironing, neatly fold your clothing, and layer your clothes on top of each other. And if you're hanging your clothes, use hangers that don't cause bumps on the shoulders. Rounded hangers are the best option to consider using.

Do not hoard your trash.

I bet the floor of your room along with table surfaces are covered in half to empty bottles of water, candy wrappings, and even plates with food crumbs. These are easily the last things you want to leave behind in your room. Not only will the leftovers give off a horrid smell, but it looks terrible when walking inside.

If you have a trash can somewhere in your room... use it! It's there for a reason and it's to keep all trash away from you. But if you don't have a trash can, get one now. All bedrooms should acquire a trash can to toss away garbage instead of hoarding them. And it just looks so much better when there isn't a single empty water bottle on your nightstand.

Start deep cleaning your room every month.

Finally, from the greatest tips to keep your bedroom clean, try to do a monthly deep cleaning in your room. This means you sweep out all of the junk that you haven't touched in so long. Organize the clothes in your closet, clean out your drawers, arrange whatever is under your bed, and simply clean around.

On this day of every month, do some intense vacuuming, dusting, and wiping down table tops and surfaces. Doing this once a month will surely keep your room looking spotless continuously. And make sure you change your bed sheets and covers, too.
