"What is love" He screamed. He stood in the empty Harvard Square park. He saw an image of her moving towards him. His heart-rate increased, and in anticipation he grew silent. It was not a ghost because she was still living. Suddenly the image faberized and she was gone, He stupped down and with his head in his hands cried.

When he had heard she had been raped, he had rushed back to comfort her. Yet he struggled with the idea of commiting himself to her. Was he in love, or did he just care for her?

She never told him she loved him. She rarely kissed him with passion, and when she did he always did something weird. Like pinching her, which broke the moment. And she would push him away and walk away angry. If he was in love, why not show his inner passion for her, with her?

He stopped crying and sat frozen in thought. " What was love and was he capable of experiencing love?" He was glad the commons were empty. He would be late- she will be waiting. He knew he should go home but he was frozen in thought. He should call her, but he never called. If he was in love and cared about her feelings wouldn't he call? Why didn't he call. It would only make her more affectionate . Did he really want her to love him? Was it love, or just a seven year habit. Wouldn't he make compromises in order to protect her feelings? But were the feeling so intense, that they scared him, or was she just a fixture in his life? Was it not true love?

It was getting dark. In slow motion he stood up and started his trip home, their home.

He forgot about the confusion, and made his way to the subway. To other passangers he looked like a silent young muscular man. In truth the other riders ignored him. But he noticed the young couple, sitting across from him, and the way they clung to each other, The lady giggled and the man smiled. Anyone watching them would assume they were in love. But nobody watching, maybe not even the couple, would know for sure, if it was true love.

"Love told me who was the Boss" was playing when he entered their apartment. He laughed, he had bought her that album, but he just did what ever he wanted. She did not kiss him when he entered the apartment. Neither of them asked each other about their day. And yet he felt joy at seeing her. There was no arguements about his late arrival, she just kept working on one of her many projects

She got changed for bed. He felt lucky that they still slept in the same bed. But she did not put on a sexy outfit. She never did anymore. Her body was accessible but not an invitation. Her outfit did not say"I want you." But his actions did not say "I want you", either,

He started dancing and singing to the music, he wanted to get her attention. She smiled and started to sing and dance with him. He gave her a kiss and she kissed him back. He hugged her and they danced.

Suddenly the answers to all his questions no longer mattered. She laughed and told him about her day. He felt a sense of satisfaction. Joy, that she was lettng him in. He swooped her around, something he knew she always liked, Soon he felt himself smiling taking in her inner joy.

They had made it through another day. Tomorrow they would see if they could make it through another. For some reason he did not really want to answer that queston.
