In response to Sharif Sawaed's infrastructure work for the IDF in the Mount Dov area, fighter jets struck terror group locations throughout south Lebanon.

The Israel Defense Forces reported on Friday morning that an Israeli civilian employed by the military had perished in an overnight Hezbollah anti-tank missile attack on the Mount Dov region near the Lebanon border.

According to media reports, the man was identified as Sharif Sawaed, a Bedouin resident of Sallama, a town near Karmiel. According to some reports, he was from the nearby Arab town of Ras al-Ein.

According to the IDF, Sawaed, a father of two, was working for the military in the Mount Dov region performing "infrastructure activity" at the time of the missile attack.

The operation was a component of the IDF's efforts to strengthen its border defenses. The Mount Dov region, also referred to as Shebaa Farms and claimed by Lebanon, has no towns and multiple military outposts. At the moment, there is no border fence in this area.

Shortly before midnight, the terror organization Hezbollah claimed to have targeted two IDF vehicles in the vicinity.

According to the military, Sawaed was struck by one of the two anti-tank missiles shortly before his death was announced.

The IDF further stated that Israeli artillery shelling had struck the source of the missile fire.

Lebanese media footage showed an explosion on the mountainside in the middle of the firefight.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claimed to have hit Hezbollah locations in southern Lebanon's Chebaa district, including a rocket launcher and weapons depot, as well as other locations in Markaba, Kfarchouba, and Ain al-Tineh, the latter of which is about 20 kilometers (12 miles) from the Israeli border.

Hezbollah-led forces have been attacking Israeli communities and military posts along the border almost every day since October 8. The group claims that it is doing this to support Gaza during the conflict there.

Eleven IDF soldiers and reservists have also died in the border skirmishes so far, in addition to nine Israeli civilian deaths (including the attack late Thursday). Additionally, Syria has launched multiple strikes without resulting in any casualties.

The 287 members of Hezbollah that Israel has killed during the ongoing skirmishes—mostly in Lebanon, but some also in Syria—have been named by the organization. At least 60 civilians, three of whom were journalists, a Lebanese soldier, and 54 more terrorist operatives from other organizations have all died in Lebanon.

Around 70,000 people were evacuated from northern communities to escape the fighting, and Israel has threatened to go to war to drive Hezbollah away from the border if it does not withdraw.

The Israel Defense Forces reported on Friday morning that an Israeli civilian employed by the military had perished in an overnight Hezbollah anti-tank missile attack on the Mount Dov region near the Lebanon border. According to media reports, the man is Sharif Suad, a Bedouin who lives in the town of Sallama, which is close to Karmiel.

This week has seen an increase in attacks from both sides; Israel declared that it had conducted "offensive action" throughout southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah has increased its rocket barrage.

The violence has increased tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran. Israel and Iran last fought each other in 2006.

The Israeli army claimed that terrorists had fired anti-tank missiles toward the disputed Shebaa Farms district in northern Israel, referring to the area as "Har Dov."

"As a result, an Israeli civilian doing infrastructure work was injured and he was later pronounced dead."

According to Israeli media, the victim was a truck driver who was of Arab descent. Although the body had not yet been identified, police told AFP that it was the only one discovered following a truck collision.

Hezbollah claimed to have used artillery and missiles in a "complex ambush" on a convoy in the Kfarshuba hills overnight, destroying two Israeli vehicles.

The Israeli army declined to respond to the assertion directly.

A weapons store and a launcher were among the Hezbollah targets that Israeli fighter jets reportedly struck near Shebaa village in southern Lebanon, while soldiers "fired to remove a threat in the area."

According to the report, fighter jets "struck Hezbollah operational infrastructure in the area of Kfarshuba and a military compound in the area of Ain El Tineh in southern Lebanon."

According to the official National News Agency of Lebanon, "more than 150 Israeli shells" damaged homes in Shebaa village, Kfarshuba, and Helta.

The Israeli army and Iran-backed Hezbollah have been exchanging gunfire almost every day since October 7, the day after Hamas, the Palestinian organization that supports it, launched an unprecedented attack on Israel.

An AFP count shows that since October 8, at least 380 people have died in Lebanon, including 252 Hezbollah fighters and numerous civilians.

On its side of the border, Israel reports that nine civilians and eleven soldiers have died.

On both sides, tens of thousands of people have lost their homes.
