Various members of the Young Avengers

The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to grow, and new heroes are appearing in ever show and film within the franchise. One thing that is becoming clear are Marvel moving towards the Young Avengers forming. This is due to how many are already appearing within the MCU and are proving popular with fans. So here, we will rank the young heroes to be on the team in the comics and the young heroes in the MCU and rank them out of ten of the likelihood of them being one of the founding members. From here be warned, spoilers will be discussed within the recent releases of the MCU.

America Chavez - Ms America

America Chavez - Ms America

Having now appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it seems highly likely America will join the team in the MCU. However, the question is, will she be a founding member? It is highly likely, as she is set and ready to appear in her next MCU adventure. However, when we last saw her, she was training under Wong to master the mystic arts. So, it could be we do not see her join the Young Avengers until their second adventure as a team. Instead she could be set to appear in the next Doctor Strange film, proving to him that she is ready and then Strange referring her to the young team of heroes.

Likelihood of being a founding member: 7 out of 10

Cassandra Lang - Stature

Cassandra Lang - Stature

Cassandra or better known as Cassie is the Young Avenger to first appear in the MCU. First seen in Ant-Man she is Scott Lang's daughter and followers her father in size-altering powers. However, as Stature she is more likely to grow larger than smaller. Given the time jump and Cassie now being a young woman by the time we reach Avengers: Endgame, it feels as if Cassie has always been the original Young Avengers easter egg. It is highly likely she will don her codename Stature in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. It is extremely likely this easter egg will come to fruition and Cassie will be one of the founding members of the team.

Likelihood of being a founding member: 9 out of 10

David Alleyne - Prodigy

David Alleyne - Prodigy

Now, some may be asking who is Prodigy? Essentially, he is a mutant with the ability to mimic and retain the knowledge possessed by others. Naturally with any comic book character, it is a little more complex than that, but that is it in a nutshell. He is a character that has not appeared or even been hinted at within the MCU. But he was originally a member of the New Mutants, a young X-Men team. Marvel have made it clear the mutants are coming to the MCU. MIT is also being mentioned a lot in the MCU at the moment, so perhaps he will appear there as a student. So, there is a small chance he may be on the founding roster, but it is more likely he will join the team later down the MCU line.

Likelihood of being a founding member: 4 out of 10

Elijah Bradley - Patriot

Elijah Bradley - Patriot

Another Young Avenger yet to be mentioned in the MCU is Patriot. But Patriot has a better chance than Prodigy of appearing in the starting roster. Without giving too much away, his family has linked to the creator of the super solider serum and his Grandfather and Uncle were in a way inspiration to Elijah becoming Patriot. He was a founding member of the team in the comics, and it makes him a good candidate to appear in the line-up in the MCU. He could even be the character that is introduced when the team first forms, with his family's link to Captain America's past perhaps even playing a part in the team's adventure.

Likelihood of being a founding member: 6 out of 10

Jonas - Vision

Right, so yes this is Vision, but at the same time is not Vision. He was created from the memories of Vision and a Neurokinetic Armour worn by Iron Lad. Mistrusted at first by the team he soon earned their trust and became a member of their team. Pretty much matching the Vision we all know in abilities, but he does also have some shapeshifting abilities and holographic manipulation abilities. This incarnation of Vision may appear if they go down the route with Iron Lad in the MCU, that is if they even bring the character to the MCU. But we also had a new Vision debut in Wandavision, so it is highly unlikely they will be in a rush to bring this Vision to the MCU. Wow, that is a lot of Visions to keep track of.

Likelihood of being a founding member: 2 out of 10

Katherine "Kate" Bishop - Hawkeye

Katherine "Kate" Bishop - Hawkeye

While Cassie may have been the first Young Avenger to appear in the MCU, Kate is the first to suit up in the MCU. Appearing alongside Clint Barton in the MCU series Hawkeye, Marvel showed Kate taking over the mantle and responsibility of the codename Hawkeye. Kate is the most likely contender out of all to appear in the Young Avengers, as she has been the most prominent leader the team has ever had in the comics. With her also have being mentored by a founding member of the Avengers, you could easily see how she would step up to lead the team in the MCU.

Likelihood of being a founding member: 10 out of 10

Kamala Khan - Ms Marvel

Kamala Khan - Ms Marvel

Kamala is the newest hero to appear in the MCU and has been an instant hit with the fans. However, unlike everyone else on this list, she has never actually been a Young Avenger in the comics. She has been a junior member of the Avengers in various media and has been a member of other superhero teams. But will she become a Young Avenger? While there is a small chance, it is actually unlikely. In recently leaked footage online of an interactive meal on a Disney Cruise ship, participants watch the actors of the MCU reprise their roles to save the ship while they dine. Kamala Khan is one of the heroes that appears, along with Ant-Man, Wasp, the new Captain America & Captain Marvel. In the footage she is introduced as an Avenger in training. Which means it is certain she will be one on the new roster of Avengers instead.

Likelihood of being a founding member: 3 out of 10

Loki Laufeyson - Kid Loki

Loki Laufeyson - Kid Loki

A Kid Loki appeared in the Loki series and fans loved seeing this young version of Loki on their screens. With the fan reaction, it is likely Kid Loki will eventually join the Young Avengers. But the one already shown in the MCU is displaced from his dimension. This may mean in the second season of Loki he is somehow brought to the MCU world to join in the fun. Or perhaps a America Chavez will punch her way through to the dimension he is trapped in a free him. But this reduces the chances of him being a founding member as a set-up needs to happen to bring him into the MCU.

Likelihood of being a founding member: 4 out of 10

Nathaniel Richards - Iron Lad

Nathaniel Richards - Iron Lad

Some fans think Harley Keener, the boy Tony inspired in Iron Man 3 is the one set to become Iron Lad. However, without spoiling the true identity being Iron Lad. Recent events in the MCU have now opened up the opportunity for the MCU to follow the comics with Iron Lad being the one to bring the young heroes together as the Young Avengers. This could then lead to Iron Lad's fall from grace and becoming the villain in a second film. 2 years ago his chances were much lower than they are today.

Likelihood of being a founding member: 7 out of 10

Noh-Varr - Marvel Boy

Noh-Varr - Marvel Boy

Marvel Boy was not a founding member of the team in the comics but has become a steady member of the roster. A member of the Kree species he has enhanced physical abilities to a normal person. Many believe Park Seo-joon has been cast to appear as Noh-Varr in the upcoming The Marvels. But this has not been confirmed yet. If it does turn out to be true it does up the chances of him appearing the Young Avengers. But if not, it could be some time before he joins the team. This makes him an even 50/50 chance of appearing.

Likelihood of being a founding member: 5 out of 10

Peter Parker - Spider-Man

Peter Parker - Spider-Man

Another entry on the list that has never been a member of the Young Avengers, however this is where Marvel could get creative in the MCU. Spider-Man was last seen in an interesting place, with all the heroes now forgetting who he is. How far this goes is unclear, but if it is so they have forgotten all his heroic acts of the past then he is on a clean fresh slate. With his past in the MCU showing him the strength of teamwork, the MCU could see Spider-Man be the one who brings the young heroes together much like how Nick Fury and Ironman brought the original Avengers together.

Likelihood of being a founding member: 6 out of 10

Shuri - Black Panther

Shuri - Black Panther

Shuri is the final one on this list that has not been a Young Avenger but could be one in the MCU. Shuri in the MCU is in an interesting place. With the sad passing of Chadwick Boseman, Shuri is a high contender to become the new Black Panther. She has been Black Panther in the comics so it would not be a bad move if the MCU followed the comics. But unlike her brother, the MCU Shuri would probably do better in the Young Avengers and being the one granting the team to their munitions and transportation, akin to how Ironman funded the Avengers in the beginning.

Likelihood of being a founding member: 5 out of 10

Theodore Altman - Hulkling

Theodore Altman - Hulkling

Known as both a Young Avenger and on of Marvel first openly gay characters to be in a main title. Hulking is in fact a Kree/Skrull hybrid, despite what his name suggests. But this does mean his appearance in the MCU is highly likely. With the Kree being a prominent cosmic threat in the MCU for several years and the Skrull becoming more prominent in the MCU. It is only a matter of time before he appears. It is highly likely a hint of him will be laid in The Marvels and his first appearance may be in the upcoming Secret Invasion series. If this happens it could set him up to full debut in the Young Avengers.

Likelihood of being a founding member: 7 out of 10

Thomas Sheperd - Speed

Thomas Shepard - Speed

Now, Tommy has appeared in the MCU as in the comics he is technically Wanda's son. Simply put, following some tragic events in the comics Wanda made it so her twins were reborn with new families and for Tommy he grew up with the Sheperds. As a speedster, he would bring a power that has not really been used in the MCU since Avengers: Age of Ultron unless you count the speed Captain Marvel can also propel herself. So it is likely we could see him in the Young Avengers, but with the multiverse being played with in the MCU, the Speed we meet may call another dimension home instead.

Likelihood of being a founding member: 8 out of 10

William Kaplan - Wiccan

William Kaplin - Wiccan

As explained above, Wiccan is Wanda's son and in the comics was born like his brother to a new family the Kaplins. But unlike his brother, Wiccan has a much bigger fate and role within Marvel Comics. In many timelines it shows he will become the most powerful mystic in the entire universe. With the magic side of the MCU becoming more important with every instalment. He is also the boyfriend and later husband of Hulkling, with the pair being the most famous LGBTQ+ Marvel Comics couple. These factors make it more likely William may appear before his brother and be one of the founding members of the Young Avengers.

Likelihood of being a founding member: 9 out of 10

What do you think? Which young heroes do you think will form the Young Avengers in the MCU?
