Leo Howard is the new Tate

Jamie Martin Mann has portrayed Tate Black for six months on Days of Our Lives. He fell in love with Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzimus), who was crushing on her stepbrother Johnny Dimera (Carson Boatman). Holly was planning on breaking up Johnny's relationship with Chanel Dupre (Raven Bowens), but on New Year's Eve, Holly overdosed on drugs.

Thursday, April 4 was Mann's final episode and he left the Peacock soap to attend college full-time. In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Mann said this was a difficult decision, but it was the right tone for him now. Tate is now played by Leo Howard, whose first scenes were on Friday April 12.

Howard began with a bang as he snuck over to the Dimera mansion to see Holly, who now appears equally smitten with him. The couple shared their first kiss and later were busted by their parents for being together inside the Dimera home.

Soap teens chose school over acting

Jamie Martin Mann is not the only young soap actor who has chosen his education over a career. Two General Hospital cast members, Sydney Mckayla (Trina Robinson) and Will Lipton (Cameron Webber), left their roles to pursue their studies full-time.

McKayla was replaced with Tabyana Ali, but Lipton returned as Cameron briefly in February. Eden McCoy, who portrays Josslyn Jacks, on the ABC soap has remained on contract on GH while attending school full-time. She did take a break after the death of her mother. Mann has said he would like to return to the soap, but since he has been replaced, it would have to be as a different character unless Howard left or was fired.

Leo Howard's early life

TV Insider says Leo Howard appeared in an episode of Monk at the age of 7 and, when he was 11, portrayed a young Jason Momoa in Conan the Barbarian.

At 13, he was cast as the lead in the Disney XD series, Kickin’ It, where he not only starred in every episode, but also directed one, earning him a Guinness World Record for the distinction of being the youngest person to ever direct a television series.

Howard also directed two episodes of Gamer’s Guide To Pretty Much Everything. In 2014, he starred in the film Andròn —The Black Labyrinth and guest-starred in Lab Rats: Bionic Island. In 2019, he had a recurring role in Why Women Kill as Tommy. In 2019, he joined the second season of The CW television series Legacies.

Leo's personal life

Leo Howard was born July 13, 1997, in Newport Beach, California, the son of Professional Dog Breeders Randye and Todd "The Big Bulldog" Howard. His father is also an eviction specialist and process server who stars in World's Worst Tenants on Spike TV.

Howard became a fan of Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee when he was young and began taking martial arts classes at four. He was discovered during a martial arts tournament and began modeling, which led to his acting career.

Tate Black's future

Tate and Holly are sneaking around behind their parents' backs. Brady Black (Eric Martsolf), Nicole Dimera (Arianne Zucker), EJ Dimera (Dan Figueroa), and Theresa Donovan (Emily O'Brien) all agree that the teenagers should be kept away from each other. This is why they will probably be involved in a forbidden teen romance. It may begin just in time for May Sweeps and last at least through the summer. Be on the lookout for spoilers and updates for Days of Our Lives related to Holly and Tate and what's in store for them.
