I’m a problem solver at heart, working my way through most of what life throws my way.

I know life isn’t easy and it places obstacles in our path. Obstacles that seem insurmountable, but by putting one foot forward, they can be overcome.

Sometimes I need to be extra creative to tackle a life lesson, but there’s times when I struggle. While I can see a solution, I work with what I have. It’s the times I feel totally helpless that my stress levels rise to unacceptable heights.

That’s when it’s time to stop and smell the roses. Time out.

I was challenged to write a drabble of the word ‘helpless'.

Wikipedia defines a drabble as follows :

A drabble is a short work of fiction of precisely one hundred words in length. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in a confined space.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

I appreciated this piece of honest reflection and inspiration :) I want to be in a 'time out' more than a 'time in' lately.
