Their invasion happened without warning, but there was no doubt as to their intentions. This was an extermination. Such an act could only be committed by truly monstrous beings… right?
They descended upon our world, with eyes lusting for the minerals of our planet, and then killed us all.
Mercilessly.
But yet, I could not blame them.
They were no different to the fire that burns a forest to stay alive, or the cancer that kills its host in hopes of persisting. Neither escape their fate in the end.
No, I could not blame them.
For they were only human.

Superb and perfect ending!!!♥️♥️💕
Wow, super intense great story
Excellent expression of our common inhumanity.
This is truly incredible, J.R.! I didn't see the ending coming, but you built it up perfectly for that grand slam!
This is my favorite kind of sci-fi twist and you packed it into 100 words so perfectly. Love this!
Wow! Loved that mic-drop moment at the end! Awesome job, J.R.
Whoa J.R..... I really should have seen that coming but I didn't! You've left me devastated and gob smack! This was a shocking and breath taking story! I'm struggling to find words to express how much I loved this, other than. "Can you help me find my jaw? It seems to have dropped somewhere over here." 💜
Even though, even though I could see where this was going...that still hit home, that last line! Great stuff, JR!
Ouch. The truth in that last line. ugh
So damn good, JR. That last line was a gut-punch. I love it!
Ooh so good! I was agreeing with this the whole way, excellent points you make. And then... them... was us! Fantastic in such a limited space!
Well, humans are the worst kinda monsters, lol!
Holding that mirror up blindingly well there Josh!! Great micro.
