Them

Their invasion happened without warning, but there was no doubt as to their intentions. This was an extermination. Such an act could only be committed by truly monstrous beings… right?

They descended upon our world, with eyes lusting for the minerals of our planet, and then killed us all.

Mercilessly.

But yet, I could not blame them.

They were no different to the fire that burns a forest to stay alive, or the cancer that kills its host in hopes of persisting. Neither escape their fate in the end.

No, I could not blame them.

For they were only human.

This is my favorite kind of sci-fi twist and you packed it into 100 words so perfectly. Love this!

Whoa J.R..... I really should have seen that coming but I didn't! You've left me devastated and gob smack! This was a shocking and breath taking story! I'm struggling to find words to express how much I loved this, other than. "Can you help me find my jaw? It seems to have dropped somewhere over here." 💜
