Drabble Drop : Leak

Being an empath is exhausting, day in and day out. Feeling emotions that swivel through the air, invisible to most, but to an empath, it’s a kaleidoscope of battling torment.

Every which way they turn; shouldering the heartbreak, pain, devastation, fear and stress. Likened to being slammed over and over again into a brick wall.

An empathic human being dreams of making the world a happier place, in fact it’s a need, not so much a want.

A time-out from the heartbreak is necessary, because one of the worst side effects is living with a heart that’ll continually leak.

I was challenged to write a drabble of the word 'leak'.

Wikipedia defines a drabble as follows :

A drabble is a short work of fiction of precisely one hundred words in length. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in a confined space.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
