River of Oblivion
Drowning in Forgotten Memories
A rivulet talked of next stage where no one realizes if it is happening at night or early hours of the day was the River of Oblivion; the place where reason rules over fear. Those who sought its depth claimed to always come out covered in tar-like substances that stick on the bodies of souls.
One evening, seized by an invincible desire for the truth, Marko went down to the River of Oblivion. He made a lot of noise as he walked along and it was so dark around him that you could cut it with a knife. Marko found himself at the bank of the river and came across an ancient mariner shrouded in darkness. The senior citizen spoke in low tones about hidden mysteries of River of Oblivion and assuring him that he would reveal what he wanted most. Being unaware that the old man was nothing more than a ghost from his own dread, Marko ventured into those hazy waters where they cascaded off—declining towards oblivion.
Yet as he sank further down into the darkness beneath him, he grasped that this particular stream held more than just secrets but instead served or held prisoners of some sort among its fault lines, who dared explore too deeply into its bosom will find themselves locked up here forever if ever they were born on other side as well. The cold oblivion enveloped him tightly and from out of nowhere emerged also those dark invisible monsters which devoured one’s own soul-made flesh, his deepest fears reflected in their eyes taunting him to his end during moments of ultimate agony!
The village next day could only find tracks left by Mark at the banks of the River of Oblivion. Mark was never seen again and ever passerby would always remember the dark that never left due to his absence as if this was a warning sign concerning what lay ahead them on the banks of the cursed river, which was dark and dirty.
