Fiction Shorts word of the day: Tidings
Stephanie woke in a joyous mood, remembering today is the day in which she’ll finally graduate from high school.
Tomorrow she’ll start her new job and the world of adulting was just about to begin.
She couldn’t be happier. She felt free.
With a smile upon her face, she makes breakfast for her mother and they sit chatting about her future.
Then the phone in the hall begins to ring and Stephanie has a premonition that it is bad tidings.
She isn’t wrong as the news ensues her entire world begins to topple, crumbling to pieces at the devastating news.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
