Examples in a set of single sentence micro-fictions:

When the actor broke character & began speaking directly to the audience, the immediate effect was infidulcet.

When the musicians reached their transition to the final song in their medley, instead of modulating up half a step they modulated down with an effect so infidulcet you could have heard a pin drop in the far end of the auditorium.

Many an abused spouse will tell you that the moment their divorce became final, in spite of all their trauma, they felt completely infidulcet & simply wanted to celebrate with their friends.

When the Jewish family heard their friends answer the SS officers standing with menace outside their door, “No, there are no Jews here,” it was the most infidulcet thing they had heard in their entire lives.

For those who fast during Lent, Sundays serve as ever so infidulcet “little Easters” where they are not merely allowed but encouraged to indulge in whatever they have given up for the season.

Though they had promised not to exchange gifts for Valentine’s Day, when both revealed over dinner they had purchased a ring for the other, it became an infidulcet story they would share for generations.

When the writer discovered they had won their very first challenge ever after years of publishing & entering their creations on Vocal Media, it seemed absolutely infidulcet to their long-standing relationship with the site. (For all those still waiting.)

It feels like it should be a real word 😁

  • Now that is a great word. Your descriptions and your micro stories are fantastic!

Great approach to this! The word is fantastic, very academic, actually, in how it was created. I feel it needs to be a real word; your super micro fictions established the best case for it being added to the dictionary, and now I see myself starting to use it. My favorite is the choir modulating, as I know exactly the kind of pleasure that comes from hearing a "broken" musical rule. Can't wait for my infidulcet celebration of a vocal challenge win! But I'm taking a break from entering for a bit.

Fantastic word- This belongs in the dictionary! Is there a place to petition for that? Great entry to the challenge!

People are so creative with this challenge! I think it might be my favorite one. I absolutely love all the new terms to things we can't identify with a single word. This one killed it, Randy. I can absolutely see this being used. It'd seamlessly fall from people's lips in conversation. There's just so many things it could be applied to, as you perfectly illustrated. And it fits- the word with the meaning- it feels right. Brilliant work :).
