All For Nothing
Drabble Drop : Exploration
“I’m going to be late.” Panic kicks in as I race along the dock.
I round the corner and I sigh in relief. The ship is waiting for me.
I hastily board and rush to my captain’s cabin.
“Sir, I apologise for my tardiness. Command forgot to notify me that I was scheduled to be part of this exploration. I was in the middle of performing a surgical procedure, which I had to cancel. Sadly resulting in the loss of the patient.”
My captain looked at me with pity, “Sergeant, I’m sorry to inform you this mission has been cancelled.”
I was challenged to write a drabble of the word ‘exploration'.
Wikipedia defines a drabble as follows :
A drabble is a short work of fiction of precisely one hundred words in length. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in a confined space.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
