Say hello to Emily, the art designer whose sweet tooth can compete with good old Wonka.While in morning she leads out with coffee, and in the evening she ends off with snacks all the time, sugar is in constant use in her diet.For the same as the majority of people in the world today, I feel that with the sweetness and convenience I get to eat, my food choices more often tend to be skewed towards this.

Her usual morning includes a dollop of sugar from a latte that she ordered in the store and a pastry, followed by a set of lunchtime sandwiches or salads, in order to hide the sugar from her.At my university, it is not hard to guess what I have for dinner most days. Very often the meal is cooked with processed ingredients or takeaway. And I am a chocolate and soda addict!

In addition to this, Emily always looks for the sugar contents in her favourite foods and probably thinks of the health implication of consuming more of such foods.Thus begins her sweet-breakfast-free mission, a way for her to find out what her body and mind will do when she quits sugar.

In the case of Emily, her experience was not a rarity.Over the last several years, sugar has become an omnipresent factor in the western diet, with a regular American intake being about twice as high than the recommended daily amount.The number of calories that we typically consume per day are far more than what we did in the past, and they, among others, put us at risk for various health complications.

The sugar's range of effect is also wide and its negative impact is usually underestimated – as it causes spikes in blood sugar levels and contributes to obesity.The Federal Dietary Guidelines for Americans suggest that added sugar intake should be not more than 10% of the daily caloric intake.Whereas other have gone beyond the limit set, therefore, causing diverse health problems.

Three words that best describe why I have chosen to undertake a 30-day sugar-free challenge are “desire to see tremendous differences in my health and lifetsyle”.The duration of fasting will enable her toxins to get rid of them and harmonize the body with the sugar absence, which makes it easier for long-term modifications.

First days of the rehabilitation are the most difficult for Emily. She is struggling hard against the stabbing cravings and serous symptoms of withdrawal.Yet, she proves that being enthusiastic and making the right nutrition choices lead to the successful diet strategy. Stressing out on the problem, she starts figuring out hidden sugars in processed foods and choosing healthy foods instead.

When Emily is into the second week, she feels like her body begins to respond differently as the body will be relieved from the longing for sugar.I get rid of my cravings, my energy levels stay the same, and I am not having sleep problems any more, but my head is much clearer.

Although it takes some time but Emily believes that there will be a significant increase in her health in both physical and mental level.Clear skin, stable emotions, better cognitive function and digested healthy are the things she has seen getting better.

In the end, the 4th week Emily identifies health consequences such as weight loss and improvement of the cardiovascular system.Her story hit home on how much of our health is determined by the foods we eat and what we feed our body.

Along with the journey toward the 30th day, Emily has the enlightening that the lessons acquired are not just for a short period.Her adventures epitomize how food can be the key to establishing a balanced diet and hence it is the great sense that brings a long-lasting good health.

4- Keep drinking water, sleep well, and do not give too much stress that would make your sugar cravings go away and help keep your overall health.

5- Lastly, Emily's sugar-free experience can be considered a proof of the magnificent effects of proper choices on diet that could change someone's life into a healthy, lighthearted one.Through this control, she begins to understand the power of nutrition upon her body. It is through this discovery that she finds physical strength and personal empowerment.
