SIWES (Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme) and Internship is one of the ways an individual can improve their working experience even when they're still at school or just fresh out of school. This is a program that the Federal Government of Nigeria as created in other to help improve the industrial knowledge of young individuals during and after their tertiary education. The SIWES program has proved beyond all doubts that it worth doing.

During the era of SIWES, many young individuals have find a way to discover what their preferred field of study is all about in the real world. And it has also set a standard that the Nigerian companies can't employ any staff with little or NO working experience, and this is what the SIWES and the Internship will add to you when you're still in school or maybe immediately after school.

The program is majorly meant for polytechnic and university students for a duration of four (4) months and six (6) months respectively. This program is been supervised by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), a body under the Nigerian Education bodies which main duty is to oversee the SIWES students activity in their various parent companies and confirmed if they are really participating in the program as ordered or instructed by the educational bodies

In polytechnics, the program will be carried out twice, since the polytechnic program is splited into 2, which is the OND (Ordinary National Diploma) and HND (Higher National Diploma). The first program comes immediately after the completion of the first session (ND One) which last for just four months, and the second comes immediately after the completion of the OND program, and this last for a period of one year. But in the universities, they carry it out for 6 months in their second to the last years in the school, majorly 300 level or 400 level.
