Tipped to be one of the world's top honeymoon destinations and beach holiday hotspots, the Seychelles is a decidedly daytime vacation hub in the minds of most travellers. While the beaches, the water sports and the cuisine of the paradise islands are definitely some of its key attributes, the Seychelles also offers visitors an array of nighttime distractions. Here's a rundown of the best nightlife options to explore on the islands.

Hit the Clubs in Mahé

Travellers who have spent the day lounging on the beaches of Mahé will find that the nightclubs on the island are the perfect venues to dance the night away. Katiolo is arguably the most popular nightclub in Mahé and it's mainly due to its open-air atmosphere and diverse musical repertoire. The hits from the '70s, '80s and today's chart toppers can be heard till the wee hours of the morning when one's partying at Katiolo. This is one of the few clubs that plays Rock’n Roll and R’n’B tracks. Another aspect that sets Katiolo apart is that it also serves patrons pub grub such as fried chicken, fries and burgers. Other nightclubs to hit on a night out in Mahé include Ozone, the Tequila Boom Nightclub, Lovenut and Barrel.

Spend Time at the Casinos

While the Seychelles may not be popular as a gambling Mecca, several hotels and private casinos do boast their own gaming tables and casinos. The Gran Kaz Entertainment Center in Mahé is the biggest casino in the country and is located in what was once a heritage building down Rachel Street, Victoria. With more than 150 slot machines, it is the most impressive casino in the Seychelles but other gambling venues on the islands include the Casino Paradiso and the Club Liberté casino.

Go Bar Hopping

Mahé and the other isles are also known for their dynamic bar scene and pubs where one can grab a bite and a pint after sundown. Level 3 Bar inside Chemin Latanier Road's Docklands Building is perhaps the most well-known drinking hole in Seychelles as the prices of the cocktails and drinks match its stellar ambience. The Kanoba Bar & Lounge and La Gaulette Bar are just as popular with the locals as the Zez Bar and the Silhouette Bar. Those based at Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas or any of the other Seychelles resorts in Anse Louise can find their favourite drink at the Sunset Pool Bar.

 Catch a Movie

Cinephiles holidaying in the Seychelles can also catch the latest offering from Hollywood or Bollywood at Deepam Cinema in Victoria. While it may be the only cinema in all of Seychelles, this 247-seat theatre is a great place to spend some quality time among local cinephiles during an evening out.

Explore Praslin's Discos

While they may not be as impressive as Mahé's discos, the nightclubs in Praslin make up for it with sheer atmosphere and style. Located in wilder parts of the island, Jungle is by far the best venue to dance till the sun comes up in Praslin. The Kokoriko discotheque and the Oxygen nightclub are also well regarded among the expat party communities on the islands.

Discover the Beach Bars and Seafood Restaurants

One of the best things about holidaying in tropical islands is that beach bars and beachfront restaurants are not hard to come by. Providing a breezy and romantic atmosphere, these ocean-facing establishments such as the Beach Bar and Grill and the Mango Terrace Restaurant & Bar also serve up excellent seafood cuisine. The Capricorn Restaurant and the Britannia Restaurant are other eateries that foodies should check out after dark while one can also sign up for a sunset dinner cruise on a yacht.
