My To Be Read List
I have been taking some time away from writing. I haven't forgotten about Vocal, the truth is I just have been too busy pursuing other things to write online and honestly, my little family and I just had a really hard month between the flu and a weird eye infection/cold circulating our house. I'm currently sipping some warm peppermint tea because my throat is sore.

## Princess Tiara and the Whispering Waterfall
Princess Tiara loathed tiaras. The heavy jewels dug into her scalp, their sparkle a constant reminder of the gilded cage her life felt like. Unlike her sisters, who dreamt of balls and eligible suitors, Tiara yearned for adventure, for tales whispered on dusty scrolls and maps crinkled with the touch of explorers. The library, not the rose garden, became her sanctuary. There, with the scent of aged parchment and the hushed whispers of forgotten knowledge, Tiara felt truly alive.

The Road to Nowhere
Trigger warnings: Violence, Death. "May the Sun burn your tongue out, woman," Fredrick's father screamed the curse into his mother's ear as their elegant little carriage rumbled along, its polished wood and gilded trim glinting in the torchlight. They had just left the small village of Saffron and were on an unnamed road to the capital for the Royal wedding. Fredrick leaned back in his plush velvet seat to escape into the passing landscape, but across from him sat the servant boy, a scrappy lad named Jack. Jack's eyes held a mixture of awe and fear, the kind that only a commoner could feel in the presence of nobility. Jack looked up and caught Fredrick's gaze, offering him a sad little smile before reaching into his pocket and retrieving a little caramel treat. This candy was no doubt stolen from the kitchen treat cupboard; if he was caught with it, he would be locked in the box as punishment.

This is right up my alley. I've been actively looking for a book club but haven't found one...if anyone would be interested in forming one (or explaining how I might go about starting one) that would be awesome sauce. I don't have as much time to read as I once did (who does??) but I could keep pace. I love sci fi, classics, mystery.... pretty much anything accept romance (I like romantic books; e .g. Great Gatsby, Sun Also Rises, Time Travelers Wife) just not the kind that features Fabio on the cover and fifty nom de plumes for vagina (all proceeded by equally shameful adjectives/the occasional awkward verb). Anything else, though, I'm down!
One interesting thing to do would be to create dedications to books that do not have dedications...with explanations and quotes.

Oh, I’m gonna be all up and through this! Book reviews are one of my favorite things to write. I have several books from Vocal creators I’ve wanted to write about too. Hopefully, there will be new challenges for these new communities. I’d love a challenge about a book that changed us.
