So What Exactly Are Spot Stickers or Pimple Patches?
Hydrocolloid patches are not new to the medical industry however ‘spot stickers’ are fairly new to the beauty industry.
The website MedialDevice summarises Hydrocolloid patches as “occlusive, waterproof dressings that are generally indicated for superficial wounds with low amounts of drainage, basically, drain my spot, please.
A few things I’ve learned along the way:
- Spot stickers best work on open or pus-filled spots (pustules).
- As for papules, spots that have no visible pus; a lot of people say they do not work on these, I do find a good patch that will pull the fluid closer to the surface and bring down some of the inflammation.
- Ensure the skin is bone dry before application, otherwise, they’ll slip off.
- Once you feel like the blemish/spot in question has been drained, do not continue to put the stickers on the spot, it will keep the area moist without any air, in turn stunting the healing stage. Let it dry out and heal.
That being said here are the ones I’ve tried and how I’d rate them, in no particular order…
Products
COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch
How much are they & many do you get? £3–4, you get 24 patches in 3 different sizes. Available in several only shops, also eBay.
Can you wear them out? Yes although after a couple of hours they do start to go yellow and the drainage is visible. They’re a little thick too
How well do they drain? Moderately, they do well to take the swelling out of closed spots. They stick fairly well too.

ACOTYE Pimple Patches
How much are they & many do you get? £8, you get 210 patches in 3 different sizes.
Can you wear them out? Yes, they’re fairly thin, stick well, and stay white. You will start to see the gunk once drained though.
How well do they drain? Amazingly. Infused with Tea Tree Oil, Salicylic Acid and Niacinamide.

Sugelary Day & Night Acne Healing Patches
How much are they & many do you get? £9ish, 252 patches, 2 sizes. They come with a weird redundant pair of huge plastic tweezers, as well as a spot extractor tool. Unnecessary and wasted on me & not needed for repurchase.
Can you wear them out? Yes, but they do slip off if the skin isn’t completely dry before application.
How well do they drain? Pretty good if used correctly.
Overall score: Meh. 6/10

Dots for Spots Pimple Patches
How much are they & many do you get? An eye-watering £13 for 60 patches, in 1 size.
Can you wear them out? Yes however once they start draining, YOU REALLY DO SEE IT!
How well do they drain? They are quite unique in the sense they have a border, are very thin and comfortable to wear.
I always have a pack spare for a specific kind of pimple that really needs to be drained but the price is not justifiable when you put them side by side with the others.
The marketing helps them.

I have intentionally left out Mighty Patch, Starface, Peace Out, Revolution, Nexcare, etc but can always review more if needed. I also left out before and after photos. Google at your own discretion. I am also in the market for a bigger patch, thankfully my face doesn’t require such things right now.
