Notes On "To Althea From Prison"
Introduction Apologies for the spelling mistake in the subheading Many years ago I bought the album "Nine" by Fairport Convention. I still love the album today and it is home to many great songs. "To Althea, From Prison" I found particularly beautiful taking the words of the poet Richard Lovelace adapted and sung by the sadly missed Dave Swarbrick.

Foreword This essay has been lounging in my drafts for several months. At the very start, I had some idea regarding where I wanted to go with it; I probably wanted it to become an emotional rollercoaster backed by corresponding pieces of music—as entertaining as it'd be philosophically deep. But as time passed, my clear vision blurred. I lost interest, appetite, and track of my train of thought. At this point, I had two options: delete the draft or finish and publish it, making peace with the fact that this verbal opus might not contain the message I wanted to incorporate into it at the time I started writing it. Initially, I wanted this piece to be profound and centered on the main idea. Without branches in the storyline, and definitely with no sarcastic and ambiguous statements. Then, I realized it's not an easy task to accomplish. What I also thought was "What good a prosaic, matter-of-fact text would do?" Indeed.

This is my first impression of her most recent album release, "The Tortured Poets Department."

Light Up The Sky
This is my response to Chloe Rose Violet's Song promt. You are supposed to pick a song, and tell your own story through it. At least that's the interpretation I took from it. Maybe you will find your own! This is her original post if you would like to check it out.

I got the idea for this writing challenge and after I wrote it all out I felt a million different things. Basically, you take a song and delve into the lyrics. I used the whole song because I wanted to but you could take just a few stanzas and write more based on that.

Note: I had this in mind as the anniversary of John Lennon's death approached, but I never thought it would coincide with the poem I left here. A nice touch, doncha think? ;)
