There Will Be No Card This Mother's Day
But I miss you
There’ll be no cards, there’ll be no flowers,
no cake, no dinner, no gifts to shower.
There’ll be no visit, there’ll be no hugs,
no cup of tea in your favourite mug.
You won’t be sitting in your usual chair.
You won’t be fussing over what to wear.
I won’t complain when we’re running late.
You won’t respond, “they’ll have to wait.”
*
It’s near a year since you’ve been gone.
Without you, we must carry on.
But If I could have one wish today,
it would be your presence on this special day.
I’d bring you tea in your favourite mug.
I’d give you my warmest Mother’s Day hug.
I’d come with flowers, I’d come with cake,
and with patience of Job, for you I’d wait.
*
I’d sit down in your usual chair,
and smile as I watch you fix your hair.
I wouldn’t fuss if we were running late.
I’d tell them they’ll just have to wait.
I’d treasure each moment until the end,
till my heart breaks when you leave again.
But before you’re gone, I’ll be sure to say,
how much I miss you each and every day.

Happy Mother’s Day (in Heaven)

This sentiment is well understood by those in the 'Mothers who are now Ancestors' Club. Life is never the same after joining. And of course, we never wanted membership in the first place but sooner or later, most of us aren't given a choice. 😥
Lovely, moving tribute to your mom, Cathy!

Beautiful story remembering your precious mother. Really liked: ‘I’d come with flowers, I’d come with cake, and with patience of Job, for you I’d wait.”💙
