The wound did burn

As if it was open flesh

That pierced right through

My very being

When the one

Called friend

Took the very trust

To sharpen their weapon

It was cunning and precise

A slick movement

A manifest of the con

To dismantle me

When I exposed

My extended hand

The blade presented

A shining glow

Warning of danger

But I refused

To acknowledge

That someone who

Had gained my confidence

Would gallantly wait

Until my back

Was turned

To take advantage

And make the stab

This cuts deep. Sorry, no pun intended (okay, maybe a little) I absolutely love this and a darker spin on the challenge (that I imagine many will take in a sweeter way) Well done, Cindy! I thought I was subscribed, checked and was, but never saw this come up, so unsubscribed and resubscribed so hopefully that will sort the subscribing issue lol! Anyway, stunning work on this and wouldn't really be surprised if this got Top Story and placed in the challenge!
