Night Worker

An ode to the hardworking dreamers by night and sleepy dear ones by day; that goes for readers, writers and actually night workers, those sacrificing sleep for surviving and imagining

Open the book,

Take out the pen;

Then look outside

Like how you’ve done it

Over and over again.

Peek out and see

The light from the neighbors’,

As cozy and bright as can be.

Snow falls

Like it’s from the streetlight.

You can trace a finger

In the trees’

Branches intertwined,

Pointing to the stars

Whose light is so undermined.

Cars pass through

At this hour of the night,

Making you wonder

What’s out of sight.

Writing all this

In the dark of the night,

Squinting my eyes,

Which without glasses,

Plead for sight.
